Fulbright Scholar Seminar

Centre for Economic Policy and Development Research (CEPDeR) in conjunction with the Department of Economics and Development Studies, Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria, is organising a Seminar Presentation to be delivered by a visiting Fulbright Scholar (Prof. Steve Onyeiwu).

Professor Steve Onyeiwu who has been a Fulbright Scholar at the Department of Economics and Development Studies, Covenant University since February 2022 will be concluding his research stay in August 2022. Therefore, Prof. Steve Onyeiwu uses this seminar presentation to share the preliminary findings of his research with the stakeholders.

Brief information on the speaker of the event is given below.

 

Professor Steve Onyeiwu is a tenured full Professor of Economics and former Chair of Department at Allegheny College, Pennsylvania. He received his PhD in Economics from the University of Connecticut, USA. He received his B.Sc. (with First Class Honors) and M.Sc. in Economics from the University of Port Harcourt and Obafemi Awolowo University, respectively.

He has served as a consultant to international organizations such as the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), Addis Ababa, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Geneva, the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA), Senegal and the International Institute of Administrative Sciences, Brussels.

His book, Contemporary Issues in African Economies, is widely used in many undergraduate and graduate economic development classes. Professor Onyeiwu is a regular contributor to the popular media. His articles have appeared on CNN, US News and World Report, Business Insider, CNBC Africa, The Conversation, and several media outlets in Africa and the United States.
